JOHN COLTRANE
Blue Train
BLP-1577. 1959 mono original LP with "47 West 63rd NYC" address on both labels and "47 West 63rd St., New York 23" address on back cover. Deep groove pressing with "RVG" stamped and "ear" ("P") etched in trail-off area. NO "INC" or "R" on labels. Although this is a first pressing, there were very few copies that have "47 West 63rd New York 23" labels on one side. These anomalies were pressed using leftover supplies of older labels, and while rare, do not necessarily make them more or less original than copies which have "47 West 63rd NYC" labels on both sides. Disc is visually in "wrecked but rare" condition, which is our lowest grade (!). In terms of play ability, by our assessment this album plays G+ condition on the busier numbers, and G condition on quiet songs. No jumps or skips, but plenty of noise. 4-1/2" split in spine. 3" and 1-1/2" splits at bottom of cover. Tear in slick on back cover at top right corner. Staining on back cover. All four corners "pushed" and "balding". This is the very definition of a "starter copy," for someone who wants a first pressing but doesn't want to pay top dollar. It is being offered as-is.
