BEATLES
Please Please Me
Mega rare 1962 UK 7" one-sided metal acetate of the mono 45 released on January 11th, 1963. This acetate, which is one of the earliest Beatles Emidiscs acetates, was cut from an unknown take some time in late November 1962. The arrangement had been radically altered from earlier demos, and it took 18 takes to record what George Martin immediately predicted would be their first major hit. It is in fact their first single to reach number one on charts like the NME and Melody Maker.
This acetate was cut without the recording engineers initials on the label. However research has determined that the handwriting on the label is that of pioneer cutting engineer Peter Vince. Vince became an engineer at EMI Studios in April 1962 just before the Beatles arrival at the studio in June 1962.
As far as we know, this is only the second genuine Emidisc to surface of this title. This particular one was last sold by Omega Auctions in the UK in 2022.
Disc shows a fair amount of surface marks and scuffs, but no feelable scratches to the playing surface. The label is clean, just showing a little proper aging. There is no deterioration to the lacquer on the playing side (with some minor wear to the lacquer around the rim), with some 'ring like' effects to the blank 'B' side. It plays great!
100% guaranteed authentic acetate, not fake like many acetates offered online. Own a piece of Beatles history!
