Ringo Starr Owned and Signed Beatles Hot 100 Billboard “#1 in the Nation” Award for the Song “We Can Work It Out”. Original and official vintage Billboard record award presented to the Beatles in honor of their rise to #1 on the Billboard charts for the Beatles single “We Can Work It Out” for the week ending January 8th, 1966.
In the 1960’s, the Billboard charts were considered the reference when determining the popularity and ranking of artist/band song and LP releases. Billboard had two primary charts, one for LPs (called the Top LPs) and another for singles (called the Hot 100). The Billboard Top LPs measured album popularity based on album sales while the Hot 100 was based on each single's weekly physical sales figures and airplay on American radio stations. On rare occasions, to honor the artist/band at the top spot for the week and promote Billboard presence in the industry, Billboard manufactured a wood-backed, laminated version of the chart and presented it directly (often in person) to the artists/band. Only the artist or band received these awards – so only one award was typically produced (even if the band had four members). Given the extreme scarcity of other wood-backed Billboard awards, these awards were given out very infrequently and are exceptionally rare. More commonly seen are the regular plaques without a presentation plate but those are not actual awards, just commemorative plaques.
This specific award reportedly came from the personal collection of Ringo Starr and gifted to a friend and signed by Ringo in the year 2000. Signature displays prominently featuring a bold black Sharpie autograph.This has been authenticated by the world's foremost Beatles signature expert, Frank Caiazzo (COA not included).

The award measures 13” x 18” and has a small metal plate at the bottom that reads “THE BEATLES - #1 IN THE NATION AWARD”. The award is in fine condition, though the plate is somewhat tarnished.
