Abbey Road
2019 test pressing of LP reissued by Apple/Capitol/UME. Disc has plain white labels, but was pressed in the US by RTI. Does not include RTI stamped cover (plain white die-cut cover included).
This proposed pressing of Abbey Road was shelved before it was fully manufactured. It was made using Neotech's VR900 "super vinyl" compound, which purportedly captures the purest representation of the original lacquer. Several audiophile labels use this compound, referring to the finished product as either "Super Vinyl" or "SRX" pressings. Although the disc appears to be black vinyl, it is translucent (grey-ish) when held up to light. No version of Abbey Road that was pressed to vinyl in 2019 (or more recently) has been marketed as using SRX/Super Vinyl compound. This might have been a one off or prototype for a potential audiophile reissue, but it remains unreleased today. The matrix etchings match those of the 2019 reissue, but other than being 180-gram pressings, they have nothing in common with versions pressed by QRP, Optimal, Precision, or GZ Media.
