ROLLING STONES
Beijing Worker's Arena
Rare April 3, 2003 8.25" x 11.25" Chinese two-sided handbill for concert at the Beijing Worker's Arena in Beijing, China. This and another show in Shanghai were to be the first ever Rolling Stones concerts in China, but were cancelled due to the SARS epidemic. Handbill features information about both shows, noting the promotor as being the China National Culture & Art Co., info on a charity banquet, contact info for the Press And Publicity Center And Cooperative Press, etc. and detailed ticket info (including "Floor VIP Package).
This was originally acquired from a former Beijing resident with connections in the music industry. These rare handbills have only been reproduced once on a Japanese fan site in 2003. The concerts were organized after years of effort by the band to play in China. The shows were intended to promote the recent release of a greatest hits album in China, which due to Chinese censorship left off the hits "Brown Sugar," "Let's Spend The Night Together," "Beast Of Burden" and "Honky Tonk Woman," which were also banned from being performed at the concerts.
