Set Of Two Unreleased Capitol Records Acetates for a Beatles Interview with Jack Wagner
Fantastic set of two unreleased Capitol Records 8" metal acetates of Jack Wagner interviewing John Lennon & Paul McCartney in their rented house in Bel Air, California in August 1964 during their North American Tour.
The first acetate plays at 45 rpm and is a double sided disc containing the raw interview. Side one is labeled "Re: Accents" and runs 3:18 minutes with side two labeled "Song Writing" and runs 4:14 minutes. A portion of the "Song Writing" side was re-edited by Mr. Wagner with questions specifically tailored and released on a Silver Platter Service (Sides 143/144) promotional album in March of 1965. The "Accents" side was not used and is unreleased, but the audio can be found online.
The second acetate plays at 33 & 1/3 rpm and is a single sided disc labeled "Beatles Teen-Set Interview", "3-16-65" and runs 6:36 minutes. This disc consists of a re-edited version of the the entire interview (Songwriting and Accents sides from the raw interview) with altered questions and content. This acetate was made in March 1965 presumably for a Teen-Set magazine promotion and was likely to be published in the magazine. Apparently this project was scrapped, as this Beatles Teen-Set Interview was never published or released. The audio does not appear to be anywhere online.
Both acetates include their original generic die-cut "Audiodiscs" sleeves (VG+), one of which is stamped "RETURN TO JACK WAGNER 11TH FLOOR" on both sides. These acetates are guaranteed 100% authentic, as they were obtained directly from Jack Wagner's estate. Each acetate is in at least (VG) condition and plays very well and includes a CD transfer of the audio.
